Frequently Asked Questions

(Everything you need to know before booking)

What is Crushable?

Crushable is a Canadian wine tasting experience hosted in my home in Toronto.

It’s designed to make you see wine from a common sense standpoint.

We focus on Canadian wine—what’s being made here, why it matters, and how to actually understand what you’re drinking without over-complicating it.

This is a real, intimate experience—not a commercial venue or restaurant event.

Where do the tastings take place?

All tastings happen in my home in Toronto.

This matters.

It keeps the experience relaxed, personal, and conversational—more like a dinner party than a structured class.

You’ll also be greeted by my dog, who is part of the general hospitality environment and helps set the tone: informal, welcoming, and real.

What kind of wine do you serve?

The focus is Canadian wine.

We taste and explore wines from:

  • Ontario (including Niagara)

  • Prince Edward County

  • British Columbia

  • Select comparisons from other regions when helpful

The goal is simple: understand Canadian wine properly—not as an afterthought, but as a serious and evolving wine category.

Is food included?

Yes.

All tastings include high-end cheese and charcuterie, featuring local artisans and farms.

The pairings are intentional—not filler.

Think:

  • Carefully selected cheeses

  • Artisan cured meats

  • Seasonal accompaniments

  • Designed to complement the wines, not distract from them

This is part of the experience, not an add-on.

Are you a sommelier?

Yes.

I am one of Canada’s most experienced sommeliers working specifically in Canadian wine education and communication.

My focus is not restaurant service—it’s teaching, writing, and helping people actually understand wine in a way that feels usable in real life.

Do I need to know anything about wine?

No.

Most people don’t.

These tastings are designed for beginners and curious drinkers who feel like wine has been over-complicated.

You don’t need vocabulary, knowledge, or confidence coming in. That’s what you leave with.

How much does it cost?

  • $149 per person

  • $1500 per private group tasting

Everything is included in this price, including wine and food.

No add-ons. No surprises.

What actually happens during a tasting?

You arrive, we sit down, and we taste a curated selection of wines.

Along the way, I guide you through:

  • How to actually taste wine (without overthinking it)

  • What makes Canadian wine different

  • How to figure out your own preferences

  • How to buy wine with confidence

  • Anything you feel like discussing! There is no script or power-point deck. It will feel a lot more like you’re hanging out with friends than a formal wine tasting.

It’s structured, but never formal or stiff.

How many people are in a tasting?

Tastings are small by design, capped 8 people.

This is intentional—it keeps things conversational, relaxed, and personal rather than instructional or crowded.

You’re part of a table conversation, not an audience.

Can I book a private group tasting?

Yes.

Private tastings are available for $1500 per group.

These are ideal for:

  • Birthdays

  • Stagettes / bachelorettes

  • Corporate groups

  • Friends’ nights

  • Small celebrations

Everything is included, including wine and food.

Do you host corporate events?

Yes.

Corporate tastings are available and designed to feel nothing like typical corporate events.

No forced activities. No awkward icebreakers.

Just wine, conversation, and a shared experience centred around Canadian wine.

Why focus on Canadian wine?

Because it’s one of the most underappreciated wine regions in the world.

Most people don’t realize how good it has become—or how much regional diversity exists within Canada.

This experience is about changing that.

You’ll leave understanding:

  • What Canadian wine actually is

  • Why it matters globally

  • How to talk about it with confidence

Is your dog there during tastings?

Yes.

My dog, Dottie, is always present during tastings.

It’s part of the home environment and adds to the relaxed, lived-in atmosphere.

If you’re not a dog person, the space is still calm and structured—but it is a home setting, not a sterile venue.

Where are you located?

Toronto, Ontario.

Exact address is shared after booking confirmation.

How do I book?

You can book directly through the website.

For private or corporate groups, you can also inquire directly for availability.

What makes this different from other wine tastings?

Most wine tastings focus on performance or volume of information.

This doesn’t.

This is:

  • Canadian wine-focused

  • Hosted in a real home

  • Intimate and conversational

  • Guided by someone deeply specialized in Canadian wine

  • Paired with high-end local food

  • Designed to make wine feel simple again

It’s not about impressing people.

It’s about understanding wine properly.
