A woman in a vintage-style dress with ruffled sleeves and a pearl necklace, sitting in a dimly lit room, holding a glass of wine. She has patterned fishnet stockings and black boots, and there is a man sitting nearby with only his hands and part of his suit visible. The setting appears to be a cozy, romantic gathering with a candle on a candlestick in the background.

About Laura Batten

I'm Laura Batten, founder of CRUSHABLE—a certified sommelier, wine writer and Canadian wine educator on a mission to make Canadian wine sexy!

I believe wine should be enjoyable, not performative. You shouldn't need to memorize tasting notes, speak another language, or pretend you smell "wet river stones" to enjoy a great bottle.

That's why I created CRUSHABLE.

Through private wine tastings, writing and speaking, I help people discover just how exciting Canadian wine has become. From Niagara to Prince Edward County and beyond, Canada is producing world-class wines with incredible stories behind them—and I think they deserve a much bigger spotlight.

My work has one simple goal: to help people feel more confident about wine. Whether I'm hosting a tasting around my dining table, writing about a new winery, or speaking at an event, I want you to leave feeling like wine makes a little more sense than it did before.

CRUSHABLE offers private and corporate Canadian wine tastings in Toronto, along with freelance writing, speaking engagements, brand collaborations and wine-focused content creation. Everything I do is rooted in the same belief: wine should be approachable, thoughtful and, above all, fun.
