10 Things to Do in Toronto for a Girls’ Night That Aren’t Just Dinner and Drinks

Planning a girls’ night in Toronto can feel strangely repetitive.

Dinner. Cocktails. Maybe a bar afterward.

There is nothing wrong with that, but if you're looking for something a little more memorable—something where everyone actually gets to participate—Toronto has plenty of options beyond the usual restaurant reservation.

Here are 10 ideas for a girls’ night in Toronto that give you something to do, talk about and remember together.

1. Host a private wine tasting

A private wine tasting is one of the easiest ways to turn an ordinary night at home into an actual experience.

Instead of everyone bringing a random bottle, have a sommelier or wine professional curate the wines and guide the group through them.

You don't need to know anything about wine beforehand. In fact, the best tastings are often the ones where nobody takes themselves too seriously.

At a Crushable private wine tasting, the focus is on Canadian wine, conversation and having a good time, rather than memorizing tasting terminology.

You can host at home or another suitable private location, and the tasting can be customized around your group.

2. Take a Canadian wine tour—without leaving Toronto

You don't necessarily need to drive to Niagara to explore Canadian wine.

A hosted Canadian wine tasting can take your group through different regions, grape varieties and styles while you're still sitting around your own table.

Try wines from:

  • -Niagara

  • -Prince Edward County

  • -the Okanagan Valley

  • -Lake Erie North Shore

  • -Nova Scotia

  • -British Columbia's emerging regions

It's a particularly good option for groups where everyone wants to try something new but doesn't necessarily want to spend an entire weekend travelling.

3. Take a cooking class together

A cooking class gives your group something to do with your hands while you catch up.

Look for classes where everyone participates rather than simply watching a demonstration.

Even better: combine the cooking experience with wine.

You can make dinner together and then sit down to enjoy it with a few thoughtfully chosen bottles.

4. Go to a pottery or ceramics class

If your group is looking for something creative, a pottery class makes for a surprisingly good girls' night.

Everyone gets to make something, and you don't have to be particularly artistic to enjoy it.

The inevitable lopsided bowls and questionable sculptures are generally part of the fun.

And unlike dinner, you actually leave with something.

5. Book a spa or wellness experience

Sometimes the answer to a girls' night is simply doing absolutely nothing stressful.

Book massages, facials or another group-friendly treatment and follow it with dinner or drinks somewhere nearby.

For a more relaxed evening, consider doing the spa portion earlier in the day and hosting a wine tasting afterward.

6. Organize a book-club-style dinner

You don't technically need to be in a book club to have a book-club night.

Choose one book, give everyone a few weeks to read it and host dinner around the discussion.

Then add a bottle of wine for each major theme, character or setting.

For example, a book set in France doesn't mean you have to drink French wine. You could make the evening a blind comparison between French and Canadian wines.

The discussion tends to get considerably more interesting after the second glass.

7. Have a blind wine tasting

This is one of my favourite options for a group because everyone becomes an expert for about five minutes.

Put the bottles into bags or cover the labels and taste them without knowing what you're drinking.

Ask everyone to guess:

  • -red or white

  • -grape variety

  • -region

  • -price

  • -favourite wine

Then reveal the bottles.

You don't need sophisticated wine knowledge. The guesses are half the fun.

And if everyone gets it completely wrong?

Even better.

8. Create your own progressive dinner

Instead of spending the entire evening at one restaurant, make the night a series of stops.

Start with appetizers somewhere.

Move somewhere else for dinner.

Finish with dessert or cocktails.

You can even build the evening around a neighbourhood and walk between locations.

It's a simple way to make dinner feel more like an event.

9. Host a themed dinner party

Pick a theme and commit to it.

Some ideas:

Canadian wine night

Every bottle comes from Canada.

Cabernet Franc night

Taste Cabernet Franc from different regions.

Rosé summer party

Everyone brings or is assigned a different rosé.

Blind tasting night

Nobody knows what they're drinking.

Wine and cheese night

Choose several Canadian cheeses and pair each with a different wine.

The trick is to give the evening a structure. A theme gives everyone something to talk about and makes the night feel intentional rather than just "we're all coming over."

10. Have a wine night at home

Honestly, sometimes you don't need to go anywhere.

Get everyone together at someone's house, order food, put on music and make the wine the activity.

This is particularly good for groups who want to actually talk.

A hosted tasting can take the pressure off the person whose house you're using because they don't have to research the wines, explain them or entertain everyone.

They just get to enjoy the night too.

Why a wine tasting makes such a good girls' night

The best group experiences have three things in common:

They're social.

You have plenty of time to talk.

They're interactive.

You're actually doing something rather than sitting around waiting for food.

They're memorable.

You leave having learned, tasted or experienced something you wouldn't have done on an ordinary night out.

That's exactly why I love wine tastings for groups.

And Canadian wine makes it even more interesting.

Most Canadians have tasted Canadian wine without necessarily knowing much about where it comes from, how different regions compare or which grapes our country does particularly well.

A tasting gives you an excuse to explore it together.

Looking for a girls' night in Toronto?

I host private Canadian wine tastings in Toronto for groups looking for something fun, relaxed and a little different.

They're designed for people who love wine, people who know absolutely nothing about wine and everyone in between.

No wine snobbery. No intimidating terminology. No pretending to smell seventeen different fruits in your glass.

Just good Canadian wine, interesting stories and a great night with your favourite people.
